The Langham, London-Chelsea Flower

A collaboration with Champagne Laurent-Perrier, the garden represents The Laurent-Perrier Chatsworth Garden on display at this year’s show, inspired by the prestigious Chatsworth Estate. Reflecting lightness, freshness and elegance, the garden takes central stage in the lobby and frames the entrance of the Palm Court to herald the start of the Chelsea Flower Show Afternoon Tea experience.

To celebrate the launch of Chelsea Flower Show, The Langham, London has brought a taster of the

Arnaud's, New Orleans — $3.95 million Strawberries Arnaud

Arnaud's in New Orleans no longer offers the $1.4 million dessert that gained it notoriety years ago. Nope, now that dessert is worth a staggering $3.95 million. Co-owner Katy Casbarian explains to Eater that the historic New Orleans restaurant partnered years ago with MS Rau antiques on a proposal package that includes their signature Strawberries Arnaud dessert and a diamond ring. While the original 4.71 carat ring is no longer available, it has been replaced with a 7.09 carat pink diamond

Emirates Palace edible gold burger

My previous experience of camels was limited to a ride around the Pyramids and to a dish served by chef Alain Ducasse at Idam, his restaurant in the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha. There, it's hung for three to four weeks, braised for six days then served with with foie gras, soufflé potatoes and black truffle. At 390 Qatari riyals ($107), it's the most expensive item.
The dish isn't really aimed at locals, who know the prime cut comes from the hump, where more fat means more flavor.  The

The Willy Wonka Blueberry Balloon at This Michelin Restaurant

Run by famed chef Robuchon, with desserts by pastry chef Salvatore Martone (formerly of New York City’s Four Seasons Hotel and L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon), the French restaurant offers signature dishes like La Langoustine (truffled langoustine ravioli with chopped cabbage) and Le Poulet Fermier (farm chicken and foie gras with wine sauce, chestnut and black truffle gently simmered in a cocotte). But we're here today to talk about La Sphere, a magical globe involving blueberry compote

Rök Smokehouse and Bar

Well, our review of Rök fell on just such an evening and we squelched into this Shoreditch smokehouse with a murderous need for a cocktail. Less than five minutes in, the weather outside was forgotten. The narrow, low-lit dining room was filled with pristinely groomed thirty somethings, not a beard hair out of place. The design nods to Nordic chic, with white walls, dark-wood tables, a small open kitchen with a custom-made charcoal grill, and jars of homemade pickles adorning the bar.

Pond Dalston Freakshakes

Pond considers itself a forerunner of the ‘New Hawaiian Cuisine’ wave in London, a trend which, if it’s anything like this Dalston bar and restaurant, will lap meekly on the sand rather than rolling magnificently along the foreshore. In a city where we’re not especially familiar with Old Hawaiian cuisine, opening a place like this is a brave step – more so given that it’s hidden away down an alley off one of Dalston’s edgier squares.

The Ambassador's Reception at Hawksmoor

A giant chocolate and hazelnut tribute to a childhood favourite that we’re not allowed to name for legal reasons. Think dodgy 1980s adverts. 50p from every one we serve goes to Action Against Hunger to support their aid work around the world.

Peace & Loaf

Peace & Loaf opened in late 2013 and has already proved to be a roaring success with guests from all over the region. Diners have been wowed with the excellent and diverse range of dishes on offer. Fried Zucchini Blossoms Stuffed with Cashew

If you have never had zucchini blossoms/courgette flowers, you need to make these. Delicate yet crispy, and filled with a decadent and creamy cashew ricotta, these are the best. My most recent obsession with courgette flowers started on holiday in August to Sicily, where I managed to pick up a few packets for just a couple of Euros.  I made some delicious risottos (risotti?) with the flowers, along with roasted courgette (in one r

Blossoming Lotus

After inquiring with the Twitterverse and checking out the dinner menu I decided on Blossoming Lotus.  How could I not? The very first item listed on the menu was Baked Brie.  Vegan baked brie?  Oh my, I have not ever even dared to imagine such a thing! As soon as I arrived in Portland I dropped my things at the hotel and headed out in a cab to Blossoming Lotus. While for most of Portland it was lunchtime, my East Coa

The Gadarene Swine

Vegetarian fare has come a long, long way since the days of Woody Allen’s “wheat germ, organic honey and tiger’s milk” in Sleeper. Be it the mastery of fake meats displayed by many Chinese kitchens or the literally nutty innovations of raw-food chefs, herbivores these days have nearly as many dining options as carnivores. Whether you’re looking for vegan vittles in L.A. or meatless meals in NYC, take

Rök Smokehouse and Bar London

You know when the weather’s so dire that before leaving the house you mutter ‘This had better be worth it’? Well, our review of Rök fell on just such an evening and we squelched into this Shoreditch smokehouse with a murderous need for a cocktail. Less than five minutes in, the weather outside was forgotten. The narrow, low-lit dining room was filled with pristinely groomed thirtysomethings, not a beard hair out of place. The Golden Opulence Sundae is a sundae that is served by special order at the New York City restaurant Serendipity 3. In 2007 it was listed in Guinness World Records as the most expensive sundae in the world at a price of US$1,000. The restaurant has stated that they sell approximately one per month. It was created
